Functional food is a growing field in food and medical science and includes foods designed with health benefits beyond their usual nutritional value and which may be enriched with health promoting additives such as vitamins, probiotics or omega-3. Neptune is researching and developing Neptune Krill Oil formulations for functional food applications. A daily therapeutic dose of 300mg to 500mg is incorporated in to a single serving size of different food products.

There are 4 main food categories including:
  • Dairy
  • Bars / Cereals
  • Juice / Beverages
  • Confectionary / Snacks
Neptune is pursuing several food products in each of the food categories and has successfully developed pilot commercial products including:
  • Cereal bars
  • Nuggets
  • Juice

Consumers now recognize the role of nutrition in achieving and maintaining a better health, and are therefore seeking more and more healthier and functional foods to help them prevent or manage various health concerns arising throughout their lifetime. Solutions to help support heart and joint health and to help maintain healthy brain functions are among those most sought by consumers. Neptune Technologies is working to develop distinctive functional foods that meet consumers demand for such products.

 


Yoplait Nestle Neptune is currently undergoing research and development with two leading food manufacturer Nestlé and Yoplait to develop and commercialize new functional food products.
